Senior Competitive

Swimmers in this squad are aged 12-13 years and above, and have mastered the skills and technique taught in the Junior Competitive squad. They also demonstrate, through their attitude towards and aptitude for training and meets, that they are ready for the demands of senior training. Swimmers will refine their technique and skills, be taught more advanced racing and training skills such as pacing, and improve their fitness through more frequent and intense training. Dryland training will be extended to integrate strength, endurance and flexibility work. The main goals for this squad will be competing locally, regionally or nationally in either pool competition, open water or triathlon, and/or qualifying for national meets (e.g. NZ Open, NZ Short Course, NZ Age Group (NAGS) and Division 2 Championships).
